My Run with Quantic's Kaitlyn

So.......yesterday as I queued up for matchmaking, I ran into Kaitlyn who is a masters level zerg that got accepted into Quantic's academy team and I remember reading about it on the teamliquid forums at the time it was posted. I think its somewhere over here. As anyone probably thought at first from the title, girl and being accepted into a well-known team, yep, probably got recruited just to get Quantic more attention. But.............., it turns out she is already in masters league and graduated with a bachelors in electrical engineering degree with a minor in CS. Holy crap, and shes Canadian too. WOO.

Anyways, I've watched her stream occasionally now and then and its fun and pretty entertaining to watch. Soooooo, incoming obligatory self-promotion messages.

It turns out she wasn't streaming at the time. But MEH, at least Brent knows who I am.....or at least who I was for at least 2 seconds.  

Anyway, I've been recently trying a new style as opposed to the stupid 4M guide on TL that doesn't seem to work for me. I follow the same opening of getting 2 reapers and 6 hellions, but instead of opting for a quick 3rd CC. I went back to something I saw Millennium's forGG did a while back in the early days of Heart of the Swarm by opting for a quick 2nd and 3rd barracks with double reactor and single techlab and doing a stim push with widow mines and my hellion/reaper force THEN opting for my 3rd CC and double engineering bay as I move out. 

I've still yet to stop getting supply blocked while pushing out

I think the marines caught her off guard and I'm pretty damn certain it didn't help when I got her supply blocked when I managed to snipe an overlord as I showed my hand. Although she eventually cleans up this push, it was done at a cost of most of her army and a few drones at the 3rd. Thank you very much widow mines.

I kept my rally to her 3rd base to keep the constant aggression going to prevent her from droning safely, while utlizing my APM to the best of my ability to secure my own 3rd and even get a 4th up. Eventually, I get into a really sick position where I managed to snipe all the banelings as they were morphing at her 3rd which costs her the hatchery there. And eventually, the endless wave of 4M forces her to ggs out.

After the game, we agree to be TvZ practice buddies, yay! Although I don't know if we'll follow up on that. I think it'd be pretty cool if she aspires to become amazing at this game and even take games off strong Korean players. It would definitely help change the ideology of females unable to compete at the same tier as males.
